Funny and cute
Ordered as a gift for my best friend’s 7 year old son and he loves it. He likes comic books. So this is a great way to get him to read a chapter book because of all the illustrations throughout.

Funny and entertaining!
Love this book. We are just about done with it and will be ordering the second one. I read this to my 7 year old and 5 year old as a “Bedtime” book. They read their own books on their own as daily assignments from school but toward the end of the night we cuddle and start settling into bedtime routine and we pop this book out and it cracks us up. We love it. Even my husband will laugh but probably more so at me as I try to give all the characters their own voices. Anywho who we enjoy it.

Girls also love this series
My reluctant 8-year old reader loves this series. Aside from the whole "moron" reference throughout the book (the big brother/evil scientist is CONSTANTLY referring to the main character as moron), this is an entertaining book. Kids find the antics very funny. My daughter loved the Big Fat Zombie Goldfish - the chapters are short so we can read one or 2 chapters each night. There are ample pictures so she doesn't feel like these is drowning in text.My daughter is a problem reader (I think she might be dyslexic) and I am thrilled anytime that I can find a book that she is interested in. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this is more "boy driven." Girls like this series equally as well as boys.

Likeable, but caution for name-calling
After being told by my six year old that he doesn't like zombies, my reluctant little reader is loving this book. It is imaginative and fun and appeals to a first grader's sense of humor. My one concern is that I spend a lot of time trying to teach my child not to engage in name-calling and this book has a lot of it, starting with "MORON" that is littered all over the story. I don't think it adds to the story that much. I've chosen to take this as a teachable moment, but parents should be aware that it exists.

HILARIOUS!
Our six year old loves silly books like this, but since this is a bit hard for him-reading level wise-my husband and I usually read to him. If the book is dull, it's no fun for anyone, but this book was a hoot!Tom's older brother decides he wants to be an evil scientist, and of course he needs something to experiment on. Enter Tom's goldfish, Frankie. As any responsible pet owner would do, Tom is aghast at seeing poor Frankie flopping around in some weird green goo, so he rescues him! Unfortunately, Frankie might have become one of the...swimming dead, shall we say!Fun characters, and written in a way for older kids (parents) to enjoy, but it doesn't talk down to the younger set. Lots of fun!

Delightful
A kooky, zany little story about a boy and his pet zombie goldfish, Frankie. His older brother develops the desire to be a mad scientist, thanks to the untimely gift of a chemistry set from their mom and the need for a science fair project. Big brother, being a teen, is already well practiced in torturing his younger brother and advancing to 'mad scientist' is only a small jump up the evilness chain. Good thing revived, zombie goldfish come with unexpected new powers and resilience. The kids in my library are already clamoring for this book and I can't get it ready for the shelves soon enough for them. Keep up the good work, Mo.

A Bit Disappointed
This was a gift for my 7 year-old grandson. As he has a 5 year-old brother, and his two best friends also have little brothers, he readily relates to the two main characters and is enjoying the story immensely--as is his little brother. The best thing about this story is that--without any adult prompting--my grandson has read some of it to his little brother, both of them giggling the whole time. Which brings me to the worst thing about this story, and that is the name-calling, and the antagonistic relationship between the brothers--which is precisely what my grandsons find so appealing. So, while it's great to find something that these two little warriors can enjoy together, it's a bit distressing that what they are enjoying is the somewhat clandestine nature of the book, specifically the name-calling they are not allowed to do, some words they are not allowed to say, and the forbidden tormenting of siblings.

Easy to read and hilarious too!
The idea behind this book is brilliant. A boy tries to save a goldfish's life and turns it into a zombie, complete with hypnotising powers. It's so easy to read, with short chapters that will leave you NEEDING to turn the page, and a beautiful voice that will make you laugh out loud."Finding Nemo meets Shaun of the Dead" is such a good hook, and it's so true.My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish is like a Pixar movie made into a book, and it will be loved by kids and their parents alike.

Great adventure stories and you get two stories in one.
You get two different stories in the one book. They are full of adventure, fun, drama, humour and great characters. I am looking forward to giving a copies of this and The Sea-Quel (the sequel) to my friends children, as I know they will enjoy the read. They'll make great birthday presents for 7 to 8 year olds.
