Droplets of God: The Life and Philosophy of Mavis Pittilla Review: Beautiful story about a lovely woman! - I really enjoyed reading about Mavis' life. I did not know who she was until about a month ago, even though I am in a similar profession. Well, the same profession, although I came to it in a different way. It was SO refreshing to read about the spiritual base and her philosophy. YES! We do work for Spirit! I feel like I have a cheering section from Spirit with Mavis leading the way. What a dedicated, humble, honest, lovely woman. I am please to have gotten to know her through the pages of the book. I applaud you Mavis, as woman and a soul. The last few pages where exceptionally helpful and filled with droplets of God! These words of wisdom are highlighted and underlined, as they have served to help me shift ever so slightly, as to allow my Soul to breathe and be free. I lost my youngest son two years ago (24 yrs old) and needless to say it has been a deep dive. I read what I needed to help my Soul soar once more. I am grateful for this gem of a book, and gem of a woman and thank you Suzanne for writing such an engaging story. Review: Marvelous - Beautifully written account of Mavis Pitilla’s life and work. Such a lovely and important tribute to her. Very well written. The book just flows. I couldn’t put it down. The author has a wonderful way of presenting factual information in an easy, flowing manner that makes for a very satisfying read as well as an inspiring yet grounded viewpoint on Spiritualism. Excellent book for all faiths, seekers and/or anyone looking to simply open their minds and hearts more.

Incredible sharing of the life and philosophy of Mavis Pittilla
I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting. How do you distill over 50 years of knowledge of working as a medium, studying with a legend of mediumship like Gordon Higginson and working at the venerable Arthur Findlay College? Suzanne Giesemann did this with an ease and simplicity that brought through a clear picture of Mavis as a real person and Mavis working as a medium in the full power of her soul. I am one of Mavis students in her mentorship . I could so relate to her journey and her struggles. It added such a depth for me in understanding her as a person, the same as me who goes through similar struggles, because I have experienced what a powerful medium and teacher she is. This book clearly shows the fluidity and power of how our souls are ever evolving and growing. I especially love the last section of the book that talks about the best way to develop as a medium, is to develop as a person. Mavis’ wisdom always inspires me to continue forward following where my soul is leading me to. How she describes this is simply clear and eloquent. This is a very inspiring book that reflects who Mavis truly is. Thank you Mavis for all you’ve done in service on this path.

Entertaining Read
I enjoyed reading about the life of Mavis Patilla, a well known medium. It was interesting reading about what led up to her becoming a medium, her early years, and how she developed to an advanced level.

Much to Ponder On
Author Suzanne Giesemann refers to Mavis Pittilla, the subject of this book, as “The Grande Dame of Mediumship in England.” A medium herself, as well as a retired U. S. Navy commander, Giesemann was one of Pittilla’s students at the Arthur Findlay College of Psychic Sciences, and later spent a week with her in England gathering information for this biography. The story begins with Pittilla's youth during the 1940s and her struggles with an overly strict father, one who had been severely wounded during World War II. It continues on through her early years as a cotton mill girl, a marriage that took her to Australia for several years, then back to England and a second marriage. It was in the early years of the second marriage that Pittilla discovered her mediumistic abilities and began developing them, eventually working with renowned British medium Gordon Higginson, becoming a teacher, and gradually rising to that “grande dame” status. As with so many renowned mediums of the past, Pittilla’s mediumship surfaced during or after battling severe illness, hers being tuberculosis along with slow recovery from a hysterectomy, during her late 20s. While watching television one night, she seemingly “drifted off” and when she awakened her husband, Terry, told her that her face had completely changed, her eyes looking like a “Chinaman’s” and that she began speaking in a Chinese accent, saying that because her doctors had been unable to solve her health problems “they” (apparently her spirit guides) were going to be taking over her care. “Years later, Mavis would come to understand that what she had experienced was a spontaneous entrancement, made possible by her deep state of relaxation,” Giesemann explains. “She would learn that due to the law of personal responsibility, spirit guides cannot control the conscious mind. Nevertheless, at that moment of supreme need, her soul had risen to allow an important message to be delivered.” Initially, Pittilla developed as a trance medium, being able to objectively see and hear spirits. Not only did the spirits provide evidential information but philosophical teachings as well. After another illness, apparently during her 40s, she lost her objective clairvoyance and clairaudience and assumed that she had lost her ability completely. However, this loss resulted in her developing clairsentience more clearly and, combined with clairvoyance and clairaudience, enhanced her subjective abilities. Although she has never lost her trance abilities, her one-on-one readings and platform demonstrations do not involve the trance state. Giesemann details a number of Pittilla’s evidential readings and experiences, offering the reader much to ponder on.
